Journey of Resilience and Creativity - I had the honor of being featured in Voyage Utah Magazine, a publication dedicated to highlighting the stories of local entrepreneurs, artists, and creatives who make a difference in their communities. In the interview titled "Life & Work of Amy Gillman of Batesville," I shared the journey of how Broken Things Are Still Beautiful (BTASB) came to life and the passion that fuels its mission.
From Challenges to Creativity -The inception of BTASB was born from personal challenges that led to creative breakthroughs. What started as a way to cope with life's obstacles transformed into a thriving business that celebrates the beauty in brokenness. Each piece crafted is a testament to resilience, turning discarded glass into unique, handcrafted art that tells a story of transformation.
The Heart of BTASB - We specialize in creating bespoke glass art pieces, including jewelry, figurines, and ornaments, all made from recycled glass. By repurposing broken glass items—such as bottles, vases, and glasses—we breathe new life into materials that would otherwise be discarded. This process not only reduces waste but also results in one-of-a-kind creations that carry with them a sense of history and meaning.

Gift-giving is often seen as a mere formality, a social obligation to exchange items. However, at its core, it's a powerful form of communication, a way to express emotions, appreciation, and love. It's an art, and like any art form, it requires skill, thoughtfulness, and understanding.
When you select a gift, you're essentially sending a message. It's a tangible representation of your feelings and thoughts about the recipient. A well-chosen gift can strengthen bonds, create lasting memories, and even boost your own happiness.

I love creating special gifts for special people. I have had several customers reach out in the past about creating a special order for a gathering, meeting, special event or group. I have worked with them to create a group of Perfectly Imperfect Hearts that match what they are looking for. Please email me if you are looking to create something special for an upcoming event.

Cherishing Memories Through Art - The act of remaking these beloved items is more than just a craft; it's a way to honor the memories they represent. It's about giving these pieces a second chance to be appreciated and loved. Whether it's a wedding gift, a family heirloom, or a souvenir from a special trip, these items hold emotional significance. By reimagining them, we help preserve their legacy and ensure they continue to be a part of your life.
Sustainability and Sentimentality - In addition to preserving memories, our process aligns with sustainable practices. By repurposing broken glass, we reduce waste and contribute to a more eco-friendly world. This fusion of sentimentality and sustainability makes each piece not only a work of art but also a step towards a greener future.

The Art of Transformation - Our process begins with rescuing discarded glass items. Each piece is meticulously cleaned to remove any dirt or residue. Then, we carefully break them down into smaller fragments. These shards are not discarded; instead, they are transformed into sparkling pieces of art. This method is reminiscent of artists like Amber Cowan, who uses vintage pressed glass to create intricate sculptures, breathing new life into forgotten materials.
Abstract Art in Every Piece - As an abstract artist at heart, I view each creation as a unique piece of abstract art. The process is akin to assembling a puzzle without edges or a picture. Each shard finds its place, contributing to a harmonious whole. This approach allows for endless creativity and expression, turning what was once discarded into something extraordinary.
